Zoe Buckman is an embroidery artist based in the USA who looks in to the tradition feminine ideal. She embroiders text in to traditionally feminine pieces of clothing such as stockings, slip dresses and corsets. I found this very inspiring towards both my practice and major critical project as she has taken a medium historically used by women in the domestic sphere and played with it to communicate feminist intentions. She also displays them floating in an open space, with familiarities of clothing dangling from washing lines. I find her work very beautiful and delicately mastered. The elegant, light colours come across feminine, cut with bold flowing text with sharp feminist statements and text.
