‘Crocheted Environment (Womb Room)’ by Faith Wilding

Part of the ‘Womanhouse’ installation, Faith Wilding’s ‘Crocheted Environment’ was a web of varied crochet patterns joined together to form a sort of cosy-like environment. It combined the skill of male-domain architecture with female skill of needlework. This piece is highly influential to my practise as it encourages me to generate ideas that are no longer restricted, and pushes the boundaries of crochet and needlework.
