Mary Magdalene is a sculpture made of bronze. The detail shows veins runnings up her body, with only the face, breasts and navel covered with skin. I could relate to this piece due to the idea of dehumanisation. Painting portraits without facial detail dehumanises the subject, as we don’t quite get a full visualisation of what the person really looks like. Mary Magdalene also has a chain attach to her foot, suggesting that she once or still does has some sort of authority over her. I think that this is linked strongly to dehumanisation as one can be treated as less of a human once another has control over you.
